Brie Larson wants to make an all-woman Avengers spin-off

“Getting all the women together and getting them to work as a team would be so powerful and iconic.”

With Avengers: Endgame closing a filmmaking chapter over a decade in the making this past weekend, fans are left wondering what’s next for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Thankfully, Brie Larson has a few ideas.

In an interview with CNET, the Captain Marvel star admitted that despite Endgame’s parade of iconic characters, she wants to see something more. “To see women work together, and in that way as a team, is not something we’ve seen enough of on screen.” Her solution? An all-female Marvel Cinematic Universe team-up movie.

“I’m still really into this idea of an all-female Avengers movie,” said Larson. As the star of the mega-franchise’s first female-led entry, she’s been an outspoken advocate of equitable on-screen representation It’s no surprise that Captain Marvel herself thinks that “getting all the women together and getting them to work as a team… would be so powerful and iconic.”

Larson didn’t just stop at her own women-led Avengers idea — she’s also pushing for other Marvel ladies to get their own solo showcases. Though Larson conveyed her excitement at the prospect of standalone films featuring Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie and the women of Black Panther’s Wakanda universe, perhaps her juiciest hopes concern the character of Ms. Marvel. Otherwise known as Kamala Khan, the teenaged Captain Marvel superfan with some powers of her own, Larson said “I love her story so much,” and that “it would be my hope she comes in sooner rather than later as Carol’s sidekick, and then eventually kind of takes over.”

Though an official all-female Avengers spinoff has yet to materialize in the MCU, the idea isn’t as much of a stretch as it may seem. In the Marvel comics, A-Force is a massive team led by She-Hulk that’s made up of an all-female who’s-who of the superhero universe. We might not have a movie version of She-Hulk to lead the team, but something tells us that Captain Marvel might be a good (and willing) fit to take the reins.
