Lil Yachty’s Simpsons rap is full of references older than him

Lil Yachty was born in August 1997, just a few weeks before the Simpsons season 9 premiere.

Atlanta rapper and confused woodwind aficionado Lil Yachty is already teetering on the edge of being a living cartoon, so it makes perfect sense that he’d drop by Jimmy Fallon to rap about one of the greatest of all time – The Simpsons. Like any Simpsons fan worth their Homer beer koozies and Ralph Wiggum sweatbands, Yachty’s a ninja when it comes to languidly slipping in a classic reference, dropping bars about 59 different longtime Simpsons characters – but, being born in 1997, is he pro enough to slip in truly classic references wasn’t even alive for, as in, pre-Season 8? Let’s investigate:

“Hi everybody, it’s Mr. McGreg

S4 E11, “Homer’s Triple Bypass,” aired 1992.

“I for one welcome our new insect overlords

S5 E15 “Deep Space Homer,” aired February 24, 1994.

“And his son Ralph’s doing the unpossible

S6 E8 “Lisa on Ice,” aired in 1994.

“Hans Moleman was saying boo-urns

S6 E18 “A Star Is Burns,” aired 1995.

“Serving up steamed hams for dinner”

S7 E21 “22 Short Films About Springfield,” aired 1996.

“Or Otto, man on the bus that couldn’t slow down

S8 E10 “The Springfield Files,” aired 1997.

Yep, checks out—Yachty’s a true Simp-head, with enough classic era refs to confirm it. Thank Jebus for comprehensive rerun schedules.
