2 Chainz turns his Pink Trap House into free STI testing clinic

2 Chainz is one of the most charitable rappers in the game.

Atlanta’s rappers are known to show out for their own. Last year, Run The Jewels’ Killer Mike spurred a wave of support for black banking institutions, like Citizens Trust Bank. During the holidays, 2 Chainz has been running an ugly Christmas sweater campaign to benefit families in the city, and with his TRU (To Reassure U) Foundation, he continues that charitable work year-round.

Yesterday, Chainz upped the ante for social responsibility, turning his beloved Pink Trap House into a free HIV testing site. He promoted the new function of the album cover-adorning house via Instagram, encouraging people to “Come get tested and know your status!”

Despite criticism that he was promoting trap houses (typically a locus for dealing drugs), Chainz is continuing his pattern of promoting and enacting positive, tangible support services for communities in Atlanta, and by repurposing his Pink Trap House to forward accessible sexual health services and education, he’s challenging and shifting popular optics.
