Dolly Parton is headed to Netflix

The country queen joins the ranks of Barak Obama, David Letterman and the Upside-Down Monster.

The High Queen of Country herself, Dolly Parton, is set to join the ranks of David Letterman, Barack Obama, and the Upside-Down Monster —no, not as a part the coolest-ever alternate-universe Mount Rushmore, but on Netflix.

Parton has joined forces with the streaming platform in a development deal that involves the production of an anthology series, with each episode based on a song from her long and illustrious catalogue. Think of it like Black Mirror, but with southern accents and cowboy hats instead of killer computers.

Not unlike “Jolene,” or one of her other timeless classics, the country icon made clear in a press release her lofty aspirations that the as-yet-untitled series will, much like her discography, “inspire and entertain families and folks of all generations.”

Dolly isn’t only set to be the series’ executive producer; she’s also tapped to make the occasional cameo, along with contributing original music to be featured in the episodes. No matter how this show turns out, we can at least be certain that it will be more watchable than Rhinestone.
