Everything you need to know about the Surviving R. Kelly docuseries

After several artists turned down interview requests, the new Lifetime series provides details into the abuse allegations against the singer.

Last night marked the premiere of the first two episodes of Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly, a docuseries chronicling the the history of alleged abuse perpetrated by the singer and the stories from the survivors who witnessed it.

The six-episode exposé has hit a number of speed-bumps on its way to seeing the light of day, including the show’s New York City premiere being cancelled after a bomb threat was called in and, most recently, representatives from R. Kelly’s team threatening Lifetime with legal action should they move forward with airing the show.

The network has not been deterred by Kelly’s threats, however, stating to TMZ that “Lifetime has always been a brand that champions women’s stories,”  and moving ahead with the premiere last night.
