When it comes to Maggie Rogers, what you see is what you get.

The 23-year old Maryland native rose to prominence after a video of Pharrell Williams tearing up after listening to her song, “Alaska,” went viral. Since then, she’s played festival stages across the world, and earlier this year released her debut EP, Now the Light is Fading.

We caught up with Rogers at Osheaga to chat about her music and her personal style, which she described as “a mix between the Spice Girls and Dolly Parton.”

We also asked her about holograms. Inspired by the now infamous Tupac performance at Coachella 2012, we asked which digital facsimile she’d love to perform alongside. In an ideal world, Rogers said she would turn Bjork into a hologram, and given her ability to bring outer-worldly sounds Earth-side, we bet she could make it happen.
