Matchbox 20 show delayed by angry swarm of bees

Guess they're still a buzz-worthy band after all.

August 4, 2017

In a strange case that perhaps speaks to God’s hatred of poppy 90’s post-grunge outfits, a Matchbox 20 show was delayed yesterday thanks to a plague of thousands of bees.

Matchbox 20, who you may remember from such albums as 1996’s Yourself or Someone Like You, and radio hits like “Push” and “Bent,” was booked to play the Casino Del Sol in Tucson, Arizona yesterday evening, but the show was forced to be delayed, thanks to the presence of thousands of bees swarming the outdoor amphitheater. Thankfully, we’ve secured exclusive footage of Rob Thomas just prior to taking the stage:

OK..that may or may not actually be Rob Thomas, but at least we have a photo from his Instagram account. The photo shows off the presence of bees’ ancestral enemy, the humble beekeeper, who was called in to deal with the swarm:

The delay lasted about an hour, and a representative for the casino said the concert was delayed about 75 minutes until the swarm of bees was cleared from the area and fans could reenter the amphitheatre. The concert began just after 9:15 p.m.

Thanx #Tucson for waiting around. SO glad we got the show to happen! #ABriefHistoryTour #summer#tour#bees

Man, how great would this be if this had happened to Guided By Voices? Instead we’ve got to work to with some kind of lame MatchBuzz 20 joke or something.
