Born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska Tim Halperin is on a mission to tackle Pop music from another angle. After rising to critical attention as a top contestant on American Idol, Halperin released a string of acclaimed releases with his debut album, Rise & Fall, peaking at number 14 on the Billboard Heatseakers Chart.
Previously garnering comparisons to Coldplay and Jason Mraz, his newest single, “Tell Me What You Need” (which arrives ahead of his new EP, CHANCES, out May 4th), pulls its inspiration from Halperin’s early introduction to 80s icons like Michael Jackson and James Taylor. The track is the kind of celebratory pop song that belongs to the moments when life gets you down, and you need an extra boost. An ode to supporting those you care about, his newest single drapes sparkling horns over 808s that never let up.
Now based in Nashville, Halperin is just glad that the rest of the world has caught up to him: “When I arrived in Nashville years ago I had trouble finding a community of pop music fanatics like myself,” he recalls. “But the scene here has changed so much in that time. Now, we have dozens of incredible artists producing incredible pop music and I’m proud to be a member of that movement.”
