Veld readies return to Toronto

With more hip-hop than ever.

July 30, 2017

Veld, in its six years, has been a major player in Toronto’s festival season. Bringing in upwards of 100,000 people, the two-day festival at Toronto’s Downsview Park is nothing short of epic. Mainly focusing on popular EDM acts in the past, the festival is playing a different tune this year, bringing in more hip-hop acts than ever before.

Alongside expected headliners like Major Lazer, Tiesto and Zedd is a Toronto reunion of Future’s ultra-successful Nobody Safe Tour (featuring Migos, Tory Lanez, A$AP Ferg), which sold out the Air Canada Centre this past spring.  While there’s a clear distinction between the main attractions’ genres, the common element of high-energy performances set to thunderous bass-driven tracks make for a perfect fit. Kudos to Veld for recognizing these similarities and finding a great way to grow the appeal of the festival while maintaining its spirit: partying, hard.

The rest of the lineup features a few gems, like Mark Knight, Robin Schulz, and Lil Uzi Vert, who’ll surely be a hit when he performs his song of the summer nom “XO Tour Liif3.”
