PREMIERE: Listen to Van Damsel’s new song, “Sophia”

November 20, 2015

Kamloops, B.C.-based indie/synth-poppers Van Damsel are set to release their self-titled debut album in 2016, and you can listen to the record’s second single, “Sophia,” below.

“Sophia” has a high-gloss, summery sheen that marks a natural evolution from Van Damsel’s 2013 EP, The Sunshine, Girl. The song’s radio-readiness is belied by the band’s willingness to show off their delay-unit chops and their trademark synth-heavy, power-intensifying breakdowns. After all, would you expect anything less from a band named after a Dillinger Escape Plan track?

Van Damsel aren’t the sort of band that are content to just go through the motions when it comes to touring: on their latest Canadian tour, the band partnered with The David Suzuki Foundation to help promote environmental awareness and sustainability. The band launched a “Consider Your Impact” campaign to challenge their fanbase to make a positive change and reduce their environmental effect on the planet.

Listen to “Sophia” below, and nab a copy for your digital collection here.
