PREMIERE: Watch Khobra’s new video for “Performance”

Toronto acid-goth innovators Khobra aim for the dark heart of dance music.

January 5, 2016

Toronto synth masterminds Aaron J. Cunningham (SINS) and Matthew Cangiano (Vierance) have teamed up as Khobra, a new black metal-inspired electronic project that aims for the dark heart of dance music. Khobra’s acid goth synthscapes call to mind a sleeker, sexier Claro Intelecto, or dark ambient ritualists like OAKE if they suddenly traded in all their gear for a rack of 303s. Get ready for the phuture of goth.

Self-directed by the band, the video for “Performance” features everyone’s favourite go-to visual: young women in fitness gear (and Blade Runner style see-through jackets) head-banging in slow motion. The austere visuals perfectly complement Khobra’s chilly electronic timbres, and as a bonus, give Nike the most effective brand realignment they could ask for.

Catch Khobra’s inaugural live performance January 8th at the next ACID BATH event in Toronto. “Performance” is also available as a lathe cut 7″ picture disk from DETH Records.
