Watch Joseph Gordon-Levitt play drums in a NYC subway station

NYC's latest busker looks eerily like that kid from 3rd Rock from the Sun.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt has always been one of those everyman “I don’t know why, but I love that dude” actors.

He’s endeared himself even more to the artistic folk among us by creating HITRECORD which facilitates collaboration between an online community of multi-disciplinary artists. Gordon-Levitt’s latest HITRECORD project is one he’s calling Everyday, Spectacular, and which aims to create “a piece of art that captures those unmissable, spectacular moments that happen every day.”

To kick things off, the actor showed off his music chops – setting up on a NYC subway platform and ripping a short (like thirty seconds), super-high-energy and surprisingly tight drumming session.

It’s New York, so of course nobody noticed, save for the one guy who hilariously points out JGL’s resemblance to Pee Wee Herman.

He’s laid down the challenge for other musicians to find imaginative places to play their instruments, so I’d suggest you bassoon players take a quick trip to the CN Tower and get in on the fun.
