Why it rules to go to shows alone

It’s a great feeling the day you realize how normal it is to go to the movies by yourself.

I mean, okay, if you’re going to see Frozen by yourself, and you’re a 30-year-old dude, it might be a little weird. But maybe you just like musicals?

The point is, going to things alone can be a revelatory experience. And not just movies: As a music journalist, I got used to going to concerts alone a long time ago. And you know what? It’s fantastic.

Certainly concerts are, in some social circles, about being seen. But think of the last memorable conversation you had at a concert, and you’ll probably draw a blank. Cliché as it sounds, they’re about the music, man. So if you’re ready to take the plunge, grow up and start going to gigs alone, here’s our advice on how to do it. Mostly, just relax.
